Five Card Hold Out Poker is a gambling commission certified professional poker game that features the best of the two most famous poker games on the planet - 5 Card Draw and Texas Hold’em.

What makes Five Card Hold Out poker so special?

  • Each player is dealt a traditional 5 card draw hand.

  • Those staying in place a pre-flop bet.

  • Each player is given a choice - keep all 5 cards or discard up to 4.

  • Discarded cards are replaced by community cards utilizing the world famous Texas Hold'em betting structure;  2 card Flop, 1 card Turn, 1 card River. The 2 card flop is utilized to achieve the proper balance of winning hands.

  • With 9 players at the table, ALL 52 cards are in play. This gambling commission approved feature - along with the traditional 5 card draw poker hand and the choice to keep all 5 or discard up to 4 cards, substantially increases high hand probability, promotes increased player participation, which results in bigger pots.

Official Rules

  1. The house dealer deals FIVE CARDS to each player, face down and one at a time.

  2. The first player to receive a card is the player seated to the left of the player assigned the dealer button. The last player to receive cards is the player assigned the dealer button. Small and big blind buttons are assigned in that order, to the left of the player assigned the dealer button.

  3. After all players have received their FIVE CARDS, there is a betting round (Pre-FLOP).

  4. The player to the left of the big blind button opens and each following player may call, raise, or fold in a clockwise order.

  5. PLAYERS then HAVE THE OPTION of discarding up to four of their cards.

    a. Players must keep at least one of their original five cards dealt.

    b. Players who do not discard must play all five cards dealt and cannot use any of the community cards.

    c. Discarded cards are placed face down in front of each player so that all other players can see how many cards were discarded.

    d. The dealer removes all discarded cards from the table.

  6. The dealer burns the top card of the deck and deals TWO community cards (The FLOP) from the deck face up on the table simultaneously. Community cards are common to the hand of every active player in the pot.

  7. After the flop, the betting continues for another two rounds. The first player still in the pot sitting to the left of the player assigned the dealer button opens. After the opening bet, a player may call, raise, or fold.

  8. The dealer burns the top card of the deck and deals ONE community card (the TURN) from the deck face up on the table.

  9. Another betting round occurs.

  10. The dealer burns the top card from the deck and deals ONE community card (the RIVER) from the deck face up on the table.

  11. Another betting round occurs.

  12. After all bets are made and if there are two or more players remaining in the game, there is a showdown with the best high hand winning the pot.

  13. Players make the best five card hand they can. All held cards must play. Each player must use all the cards left in their hand, with the necessary number of community cards to make a five card hand.

  14. This game can be played High only, High/Low split, or Low only.

    a. For high/Low split the low qualifier may be defined at the time the game is spread. (Often the low qualifier is eight or better,

    unpaired, straights and flushes being ignored).

    b. If played high/low a player can win both the high and the low.

    c. Aces play as high for the high and low for the low hand.
